“I think part of what I was trying to say…about a week or so after the performance I had been trying to think about why it was so significant, and I thought about how what you created/invented represented this infatuation with the idea of art. Art as an idol. Art as something we worship, crave, and glorify. Your performance was, for me, like the allegory of art.
Something that is beautiful and passionate yet unattainable, maybe because of how abstract it is — we can never seem to decide if it is the truth or if it's a complete lie.
It must remain an illusion to maintain its magic.”
